The MASK Prize is the unique pan-African annual creativity competition with prizes for schools and young people. It hopes to challenge young Africans to reflect on creative and innovative ways of thinking and doing, and to celebrate their creativity while sharing it with other young people at key cultural centres around the world, such as :

Nairobi National Museum (Kenya)

Michael Joseph Art Center (Kenya)

The Saatchi Gallery (UK)

Turner Contemporary (UK)

University for the Creative Arts (UK)

Royal Overseas League (UK)

and the Library of Congress (USA).

Participants submit their creative and innovative artworks online in any media in 5 categories. Up to 30 prizes totalling 300,000 Ksh are awarded at the official Prize-Giving ceremony in Nairobi. More than 4,500 young people has participated. Its exhibitions were seen by up to 450,000 people .

 

The MASK Prize is a non-for-profit programme pioneered by a UK education charity MASK SCAI (MASK School for Creativity and Innovation) that trains young people in creativity and innovation for employment, enterpreneurship and leadership.

 

ANNOUNCEMENT:

 

This year The MASK Prize is pairing up with the Portfolio, a student art competition of Turner Contemporary, the leading UK public contemporary art galleriy. Sharing the same theme - 'Making a change' - winning entries from both competitions will be displayed together at Turner Contemporary in Margate and at the Nairobi National Museum in Nairobi, Kenya.
